WOW Has it really been 5 years!!
The 1st May 2019 marks 5 years since my very first day on the St. James’s Place Academy, little did I know at that point the crazy journey that I was about to embark on. This morning I have spent some time reflecting on the past 5 years. I remember that first day in the Academy with a mix of nerves, excitement and the stress that morning as my Megabus arrived in London late and I had to sprint from Victoria Station to Green Park to avoid being late.
Over the next 6 months I would complete and pass all 6 exams to requalify as a financial planner attending the SJP Academy in Piccadilly, London. I would commute to the academy every day from on the Megabus service leaving Cardiff at 4am to get to London in time to work all day and arrive back home in Wales at around 10:30pm. I would do this commute daily for the next 6 months, let me assure you trying to revise for exams and wanting to grab an extra hours sleep on the Megabus in a suit was not easy!
Looking back on this now I don’t know how I found the energy, I just vividly remember how excited I was to start this journey and a new phase of my life in the career I had always wanted. Whatever the barrier I was and am committed to always finding the positive energy to make things happen for me the business and the clients we serve.
Since officially launching Rob Ingram Wealth Management in January 2015 the crazy journey hasn’t disappointed. There have been so many highs and extreme low points along the way I feel like I could write a book on my experiences. The late nights alone in the office staring at cashflow models and valuation reports, many people are shocked that until March of this year I had only taken 1 weeks holiday since January 2015 so I could devote all my energy into building the foundations to our business.
All of it however has been well worth the effort. To date Rob Ingram Wealth Management holds funds under management of over £17.5million, I am building a loyal and trusted team and together we work every single day to provide the best client service possible to each of our clients. I am also extremely proud to be an advocate for the St. James’s Place Academy being invited to share my experiences with potential applicants as well as taking up a mentorship role for our newest financial advisers.
Despite this I feel that we are still only scratching the surface of our potential, I would cannot wait to meet new clients to hear their experiences and how we can help them going forward. I also believe that we can work more closely with other professionals; solicitors, accountants and business owners and that together we can provide a better holistic service to all our clients.
Finally, I would like to say thank you to my family who have believed in me and backed me every day. To my team for giving me the support to allow us to provide the best service possible. Finally, to each of my clients and our professional associates who have made this business all that it is today. It really is a pleasure to work alongside you all. I wholeheartedly believe in the services that we provide, that we can make a difference in people’s lives and I am so excited to see what the next 5 years might bring.
